VIDEO: Car allegedly '˜had failed to stop for a police officer' before serious collision in Hagworthingham

The matter was referred to the IPCC after it was revealed that the Astra involved had allegedly failed to stop for a police officer prior to the collision - however, Lincolnshire Police have today confirmed that they were not in ‘official’ pursuit of the vehicle at the time.

The IPCC have now passed the matter back for local investigation.

Three young people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the silver Astra they were travelling in towards Skegness left the road and was in collision with a tree, just after midnight on Saturday (May 15).

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, at the junction with Bond Hays Lane at Hagworthingham, with crews from Spilsby, Horncastle and Skegness in attendance.

The driver, a man aged 18, remains in a critical condition in Hull Royal Infirmary.

A woman passenger, also 18 years old, remains in a serious condition with head injuries in Hull Royal Infirmary after been taken by air ambulance.

The other passenger, a 13 year old girl, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital and her condition is now described as serious.

Lincolnshire Police are currently appealing for witnesses.

Senior Investigating Officer, Sgt Chris Dennett, said: “I would ask anyone who was travelling on the A158 in the area of Hagworthingham to please give us a call.

“We especially would like to speak to anyone who saw the silver Astra being driven along the A158 and anyone who may have seen the crash.”
