Heartfelt tributes have been paid to Dean Greenwood after his body was discovered off the Skegness coast.

The 25-year-old from Leicestershire was spotted by a wind turbine maintenance crew more than four miles out from shore at about 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Dean, who has been named on social media, was on holiday in Skegness when reported missing.

Friends and relatives posted tributes on The Standard’s Facebook wall following the news of Dean’s death.

His Mum Lorraine wrote: “Part of me died with you son. I love and miss you so much xxxxx my little angel.”

Sister Stac Barratt also wrote: “No words and no tears can describe the pain and heartache we are feeling.”

Jo Mottram wrote: “You will never be forgotten and will always be loved.”

Toni Bagley also paid tribute, writing: “Many memories of you will always be treasured and kept safe in our hearts, as will your family and friends’ love for you.”

An online fundraising appeal has been set up to contribute towards Dean’s funeral.

A dedication on the web page reads: “Dean Greenwood sadly found passed away in Skegness, at the young age of 25, son of Lorraine Greenwood, brother to Tasha, Stacey, Amy and Pagan. This is a tragic loss to the family who are truly devastated by this news, we would like to help raise as much as possible to help assist his family at this very sad time.”

A statement from Lincolnshire Police said the matter is now in the hands of the coroner.

It added: “There are a number of procedures still to be carried out prior to him opening and adjourning an inquest, so at this time the name has not officially been released.

“We are not issuing a witness appeal in relation to the day he was last seen.”
