Star of CBBC television series Sadie J, was on hand at the County Hotel, Skegness, recently to present a charity donation on behalf of the Skegness Community Church of the Nazarene to a worthy cause.

Georgia Lock, who was on holiday in Skegness with her family, presented a cheque for £70 to Julie Dutton, a volunteer worker for the Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, on behalf of the church where Julie was also accompanied by her own rescue greyhound, Cinders.

The Sanctuary caters for the rescue and rehabilitation of ex-racing greyhounds in need and currently it has 36 dogs looking for new homes.

They also have a waiting list of some 38 dogs waiting to be taken into the care of the sanctuary.

So far this year, the rescue centre have found permanent homes for over 55 greyhounds and have spent many months rehabilitating and socialising the dogs in their care.

The donation to the sanctuary is part of the Skegness Community Church’s commitment to raise money and awareness for other local charities through it’s Meeting Point Charity Shop which it holds in the County Hotel, North Parade, every Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 1pm.

The Reverend Ian Banks, also Christened Georgia when she was just three months old when he was Minister of the Stoke Hammond Methodist Church in Buckinghamshire.

Ian said: “It was great to catch up with Georgia and her family in the very hub of the work we do in the community here in Skegness. Despite being on holiday, Georgia and her family entered into the spirit of this work by helping in the shop and chatting to the many visitors and volunteer staff.”

Ian is a fan of Sadie J and Friday Download in which Georgia is a co-presenter.

The Skegness Community Church of the Nazarene is a member of the Skegness Fellowship of Christian Churches.
