John Nuttall, whose donkeys are on Skegness seafront every year, decided to honour Mr Fips’ return to the town by naming one of his donkeys after him.

Jan Erik, aka Mr Fips, said: “As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the greatest awards I’ve ever been presented with.”

Mr Fips Wonder Circus first came to Skegness in 2011, and the troupe come back year after year to perform for audiences who eagerly await their arrival.

Travelling up and down the country must be difficult at times for Mr Fips and the circus, but he says being back in Skegness makes it all worthwhile.

Mr Fips said: “Over the past five years locals have taken us to their hearts. It’s what I’ve always wanted, I want to be a part of Skegness. It feels like home.”

Mr Fips added: “Animal welfare is very close to our hearts. John Nuttall’s donkeys really do have the best life.”
