A TRULY dedicated friend is vowing to lose three stone and in the process raise money for a charity which helped grant a special wish for a little girl.
Claire Garner of Scremby near Spilsby has set herself a sponsored slimming challenge which she aims to complete by May 10.
The 32-year-old, who also owns Aslex Hair and Beauty in Horncastle, chose to donate all the money she raises to When You Wish Upon A Star, which helped her best friend Kay’s daughter Rhiannen, who has a complex heart condition.
The charity granted a wish for the five-year-old, who was whisked away to Lapland last December, where the youngster also got the chance to see Father Christmas himself.
Claire then decided along with her friend Kay to raise vital funds for the charity and, when the pair head to When You Wish Upon a Star’s next ball in May, they will take with them as much money as they are able to raise during the year.
Between Claire and her friends there will be sponsored head shaves, walks with children and of course her own personal weight loss challenge.
Slimming World in Burgh le Marsh, which was newly formed in July by consultant Annie Stones, will be supporting Claire in her challenge.
“My mum is also doing the diet too, so there will be lots of support and all of my friends will be helping me,” said Claire.
“The thought of raising lots of money for that charity is fantastic as it helped a special little girl’s wish come true.
“So if anyone can support me and donate to this cause then I would be really grateful,” added Claire.
The Slimming World group is held at Burgh Village Hall in Jacksons Lane.
“Annie Joined our group recently and the whole group is really behind her and wish her every success - we know she can do it!” said consultant Annie Stones.
