A family of '˜smiling' open-top buses in Skegness have helped put a special smile on the face of a poorly youngster after raising enough money to make his dream come true.

Proceeds from this year’s launch of the Skegness Seasiders and sale of the buses’ adventure storybooks have allowed three-year-old Jacob to go to CBeebies Land at Alton Towers.

The funds were donated to Dreams Come True, a charity that helps children and young people across the country with serious and life-limiting conditions to fulfil a dream.

It is the charity’s policy not to reveal the surnames of the children it helps.

Jacob lives with Hurler syndrome, a condition where a lack of specific enzymes can cause organs to become damaged. He requires oxygen support 24 hours a day.

As a huge CBeebies fan, his dream was to meet all his favourite characters at CBeebies Land.

As a result of the £1,000 raised, Jacob’s family were able to take him to the theme park for a weekend, including staying at a woodland villa in the Enchanted Village.

Michelle Hargreaves, managing director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “We are just pleased that we could help Jacob’s dream come true.

“We continue to support Dreams Come True and we hope to make more dreams a reality for children like Jacob in the future.

“It is such an important charity, and our customers and staff continue to do great fund-raising. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.”

Jacob’s mum Jenny said: “Jacob had an amazing time and he loved going on all the rides and seeing his favourite characters.

“Everyone at Alton Towers was so helpful and our accommodation was lovely.

“Thank you for making his dream come true.”
