Police have issued a warning after a number of residents in Skegness were targeted onFriday by telephone scammers.
Four elderly residents received calls from a man claiming to be a police detective in Hammersmith, who told them that their grandson had been arrested for withdrawing money from the resident’s bank account.
They were then advised to visit their local branch and withdraw an amount of cash and await further instructions.
Fortunately, none of the targeted people complied with the request and fell victim to the scam.
Police officers will never ask you for confidential bank details or ask you to withdraw cash from your account. If you receive suspicious calls of this nature, hang up and report it to Lincolnshire Police by calling 101.
