Skegness man killed in M1 lorry pile-up

A SKEGNESS man has died after three lorries were involved in a serious road accident on the M1 in the early hours of Thursday morning (April 12).

The 62-year-old, who has not yet been named, died after the Renault lorry he was driving was in collision with two other lorries at around 3.26am.

He had been driving southbound along the M1 near junction 13 in Bedfordshire.

The motorway was closed in both directions for a short time following the smash.

Police said that family liaison officers are supporting the man’s family at this time.

An inquest will be opened and adjourned in due course, after which the victim will be named.

Bedfordshire Police has appealed for witnesses.
