Skegness lifeboats were scrambled just after midday at 12.19pm and 12.31pm this afternoon (Thursday, August 7)

Boats were launched to reports of a male swimmer in difficulties a mile off shore, three miles north of Skegness.

Lifeboat crews were out searching for over an hour.

Rescue helicopter 128 also joined the operation and arrived on scene just after 1pm.

The casualty made his own way ashore after 90 minutes in the water and is now being assessed by paramedics.

All units have now wound down the search.
