Rosy-cheeked ramblers raise festive funds for care home
Festive pub walkers from the Spilsby area helped raise vital funds for Eresby Hall during a recent sponsored event.
Rosy-cheeked ramblers from Spilsby recently raised £600 through a 17 mile sponsored pub crawl to provide elderly care home residents with an extra special festive meal.
A group of 30 charitable walkers travelled to nine pubs around Spilsby and the surrounding area raising twice their target total for Eresby Hall Care Home.
Organisers of the fundraising ‘Fun and Beers for Eresby Dears’ event have thanked the participants and the pubs that helped them out on the day.
Spilsby man Bob Green said: “Everybody was great to us along the way and some pubs opened early for us.
“Lots of fun was had by all from ages 18 to 74 years old - and a dog!
“The event has demonstrated a great attitude by people who care about the community and enjoy a pint or two.”
Management at Eresby Hall have thanked the charity walkers for their generosity.
Home manager Helena Shelton said: “It was overwhelming and very much appreciated that Eresby Hall is re being recognised by the local community.”
The residents will be treated to a Christmas meal at The George in Spilsby on Friday and those who can’t make the outing will be served a fish and chip supper back at the home.
The George had also supplied the walkers with bacon rolls, mulled wine and a free drink upon completion of the walk and The Eaves in Little Steeping donated a free drink to everyone and £100 to the fundraising tally.
