A Skegness Standard reporter and photographer were among hundreds of motorists who were held up for long periods on Saturday.

According to Lincolnshire County Council, the roadworks are a result of Anglian Water investigating a leak.

A spokesman said: “The works on Roman Bank are to allow Anglian Water to investigate and repair a leak.

“To enable their repairs to go ahead it was necessary to remove a substantial patch of carriageway, and as the road is deep and includes reinforced concrete, which needs time to set properly, it will take longer than originally expected to fully open the road again.

“It is hoped that it will be completed by Friday, March 18.”
