Revised homes plan given the green light

At Thursday’s planning committee, members unanimously approved an outline application for construction of nine dwellings north of Springfield House, off Bishoptozer Close.

“It will add value to the community of Burgh le Marsh,” enthused chairman Coun Neil Cooper, who is also ward representative for the town.

He noted that the scheme was ‘more spacious and better quality’ than an earlier proposal for 19 properties which, though approved, has not progressed following Environment Agency misgivings over flood risk.

In a presentation to councillors, agent Paul Brown indicated that the applicant had volunteered to contribute £25,000 towards the cost of new play equipment at nearby Tinkers Lane playing field.

Lincolnshire Highways will not adopt any roads serving the new homes, so they will have to be maintained by residents.

The committee imposed a condition that measures should be taken to address any pollution issues in the event that the land, which is close to a former landfill site, is contaminated.
