Revesby raffle boost for Spilsby Rotary
DISASTER stricken nations are set to benefit from hundreds of lifesaving water purification devices, thanks to the fund raising work of Spilsby Rotarians.
Mayor of Spilsby Coun Michael Lenton and Spilsby Rotary Club chairman David Pleming attended the Revesby Country Fair on Sunday to raise funds for their ‘Life Straws campaign’ by selling raffle tickets.
Coun Lenton hopes their tally will exceed £1,000, enabling them to provide hundreds more water purification devices to regions where drinking water is scarce. He said: “Even in these hard pressed times the public were very generous and only too keen to put their hands in their pockets to help. We’d also like to thank Sainsbury’s in Spilsby for allowing us to sell tickets.”
Rotary clubs across the world have been raising funds to send Life Straw water purification devices to disaster ravaged nations where drinking water is scarce.
