Race night raises hundreds for Chapel’s village hall

Punters enjoy 'a night at the races' in Chapel St Leonards.

 

Around 70 people enjoyed a great night ‘at the races’ in Chapel St Leonards recently when a total of £709 was raised for the refurbishment of the village hall kitchen.

The Tuesday Club sponsored race night was organised by Mrs Christine Young, as an annual event to help support the upkeep and refurbishment of the hall.

Guests were dressed for the races and enjoyed a fun evening, consisting of a raffle, a dutch auction and 16 sponsored horse races from the John Barrie Gold Cup to Stan the Man Stakes All.

The races were shown to great excitement by video and on wide screen.

Chief Steward for the evening Mrs Christine Young announced all records on previous years had been broken as the grand sum of £709 was presented to the Chairman of the village hall committee.

The Tuesday Club thanked all sponsors, all guest and all those who helped to make the evening such a great success.
