Pupil Emily has bags of talent

Talented schoolgirl Emily Gould will see her artwork sported on thousands of shoppers' bags after scoring top prize in a competition.

The eleven-year-old, who goes to Chapel St Leonards Primary School, put pen to paper to come up with a bag design on the theme of healthy eating for Tesco.

Her design was picked from a host of entries by local primary school pupils in the competition run by the Tesco Superstore on Richmond Drive. Her design will feature on 5,000 hessian bags to be handed out in store.

Store manager Shaun Braithwaite said: “We received so many outstanding entries from all of the local children that took part in the competition, but it was Emily’s design that really stood out for us.”

Emily’s design depicts a fun team of ‘Super Fruits’ and she has won a £25 Tesco gift card for herself and a £500 donation for her school. The school will also receive 400 hessian bags with Emily’s creation on the front.

Headteacher at Chapel St Leonards Primary School Amelia Haslehurst said: “Our whole school is very proud of Emily and we are delighted that she has won this competition.”
