Police praise hero motorists who saved burning man after A16 crash
POLICE have hailed hero motorists who saved a motorcyclist from a fire after a road crash on the busy A16.
Emergency services were called to the Kenwick roundabout, on the A16 outside Louth at 12.45pm yesterday (Monday, September 3) after a Yamaha XT660 motorbike was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Modeo.
The collision caused the motorbike to catch fire resulting in the rider, a 29 year-old local man, suffering burns to his arms, legs and neck.
He was taken to hospital in Grimsby and later transferred to a specialist burns hospital in Wakefield where his condition is described as stable.
Police have hailed a number of members of the public at the scene whose “quick actions in extinguishing the fire saved the rider from more serious burns”.
The driver of the car is a 64 year-old man from West Yorkshire and he was unhurt in the incident. The road was reopened at 5pm.
Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855.
