Police issue location stickers for all static caravanners

Thursday, 1pm: STICKERS to help holidaymakers identify where they are calling from in an emergency will be issued to all east coast caravans this summer.

Lincolnshire Police's neighbourghood policing team which covers Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards and Hogsthorpe will provide the stickers which could hold life-saving information for the callers.

Police community support officer Chris Wood said: "There have been numerous occasions where emergency services have received calls from people staying in the area who simply do not know their address. In the case of emergency medical treatment, this could be a matter of life and death."

The east coast is the caravan capital of Europe, with around 35,000 caravans in 110 caravan parks across Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards.

Lincolnshire Police will distribute more than 50,000 A5 stickers reminding holidaymakers of their exact address and helping emergency services to find the caller's address more quickly.

PCSO Wood concluded: "Not only will the stickers assist the emergency services, we hope they will assist people holidaying in caravans across the area, with services such as taxis and takeaways and providing reassurance during their stay in the area."

Stickers will also be available for collection from Ingoldmells Police Station.
