Police in the Wolds have appealed for residents to be on the lookout after a report of a van acting suspiciously around the Bilsby area.
The van was reported to be acting in “suspicious circumstances” around lunchtime on Saturday (December 14).
“A white Vauxhall Combi car-dervied van attended a farm and was challenged by someone working on the site,” said a police spokesperson. “One of the occupants enquired if an item was for sale before leaving.”
The van has been seen in the Horncastle area and other areas within the Wolds.
The registration of the van spotted in Bilsby was recorded but police said that, as enquiries were ongoing, they were unable to pass those details on as “there may be a legitimate reason for their presence”.
“Due to recent rural thefts and thefts of tractors, please may I make you aware and ask for continued vigilance, reporting any suspicious vehicles/persons via 101 or 999 if you believe an offence is in progress or about to be committed,” added the spokesperson.
If you need any crime reduction advice call 101 and ask for your local policing team.
