Police appeal after fatal road crash at Gunby in which vehicle remained unnoticed for ‘considerable time’

Police are appealing for information after a fatal road traffic collision at Gunby this morning (Saturday).

Officers were called to Station Road, Gunby at around 8.30am this morning after a report that a grey Seat Leon had left the road and collided with a tree.

A police spokesperson said: “The accident happened some time between 4pm on Friday and 8.30am this morning, although it is likely to have taken place a considerable time before the police were alerted.

“The driver, believed to be a 28-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the car and no other vehicles were involved,” they added.

Anyone who witnessed the accident, or who may have driven past the crashed car after it happened, is asked to call Lincolnshire Police via the non emergency 101 number, quoting ‘incident number 92 of February 16’.

The road was closed for investigations and re-opened at around 12.45pm.
