Opticians to raise cash

An opticians is showing it has a heart for fundraising by rocking up in red to help the fight against the UK’s biggest killer.

The team at Skegness Specsavers will be dressing up in red-coloured outfits to raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) on Friday, February 1. The charity is challenging colleagues, friends and pupils to take part in its ‘Rock Up In Red’ day to kick off its month-long heart disease awareness campaign.

Stuart Hogg, store director at Skegness Specsavers, said: “It is shocking that so many people from our region suffer from heart and circulatory disease. Fortunately, the retina is a key window for our optometrists to pick up on underlying health problems beyond simply identifying vision loss.”

Staff will continue incorporating red as part of their clothing to encourage customers to support the collection in aid of BHF research throughout February.
