Children in Spilsby will soon be able to enjoy two new items of play equipment which they helped choose.

A whirligig merry go round has already been installed at Spilsby Recreation Ground with a double slide and safety matting set for completion tomorrow.

Spilsby Town Council’s playground committee asked local children what items they would like the most and secured a £5,500 East Lindsey District Council grant to contribute towards the £12,000 project.

Committee chairman Trevor Beaumont said: “We are all delighted that the planned playground improvements are now underway and children in Spilsby will soon be able to enjoy these enhanced facilities.”

The Mayor of Spilsby Coun Michael Lenton has congratulated the committee on its work and hopes it will be well appreciated by the town’s youngsters.

“This is excellent news for the children of Spilsby because we asked them what they would like to see and the unanimous decision was that they wanted a bigger and better slide - which is what we’ve given them,” he said.
