The new chairman of Skegness Hospital Watch, Eddie Gasson, has called for the support of the public in taking on the challenges of improving and safe guarding health services in the Skegness area.
He was elected, unopposed, to the position at the group’s recent AGM at The Crown Hotel, Skegness.
Members recognised challenging times ahead and the new chairman, together with the support of the committee, agreed they need to work together to make sure the best can be achieved, a task made all the more difficult following the sad death of the previous chairman Maureen Mier, who it was agreed had served Hospital Watch with great dedication and distinction over many years.
Geoff Poulter reported a healthy year of fundraising from car boots and the annual summer fayre and thanked all involved for their support and donations.
Skegness Town councillor Maggie Gray offered her support and said: “Hospital Watch needs to involve more members of the public and be open and friendly to encourage more support”.
The new committee will meet regularly with the chairman to plan the year ahead.
The new secretary is Anne Bliss, treasurer is David Andrews, fundraiser is Geoff Poulter and Marigold Chisnall is the representative on the hospital board Implementation Board along with Bess Smith representing League of Friends.
The new Matron of Skegness Hospital, Karen Kerman, and hospital manager Andrea Blackley are to be invited to the next meeting to be held on May 15, also at The Crown Hotel, Skegness, at 7pm.
