Today, Dawson Avenue seemed like any other sleepy street in Spalding on a Sunday.

Only the floral tributes on a front lawn were a reminder of what had taken place - and the arrival of police crime scene investigators.

Neighbours were staying behind closed doors preferring not to speak to media.

She said: “I have known Liz for a long time - we even almost shared the same birthday in January.

“Liz and her daughter were lovely people. I miss them so much - I just want them to come back.”

Another man rolled up a drop-head BMW to take a bunch of flowers to the house. He said: “I don’t know them but I just thought it was terribly sad and wanted to do something.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

DCI Martin Holvey, of EMSOU Major Crime and who is leading the enquiry, said: “Post mortem examinations will be carried out in due course but again I still need to speak to anyone with any information that might be relevant from Dawson Avenue from around noon on Wednesday (April 13) to noon on Friday (April 15).

“If you saw or heard anything that you thought was suspicious or unusual I’d encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible. Please call the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 163 of 15/04/2016 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

“Our officers will continue to carry out enquiries in the locality and local uniformed officers will also be in the area. If you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to talk to them.”

Friends and family have spoken of their shock on Facebook. Liz’s partner Graham Green, who is believed to be staying with friends in Derby, said this morning: “I’ve been awake ages wondering what sort of day will happen today. Still lots of things are going through my mind. The lady meant the world to me – she was my rock and I was her grumpy Graham. And Katie, so young – lots of good times in front of us been taken away.”
