Name revealed of man who died in ditch crash

The name of the man whose body was found after a vehicle went into a ditch in Antons Gowt last week has been revealed as Wayne Bourn, of Gipsey Bridge.

A Lincolnshire police officially confirmed the name of the 32-year-old, of Cannister Lane, this morning (Tuesday).

It is understood Wayne was a stock car driver who performed at Skegness Stadium. The Standard understands the stadium will be holding an event in memory of him on Sunday.

Police were called to Leagate Road, Antons Gowt, at 8am on Friday after a car landed upside down in a water-filled ditch.

A force spokesman said at the time: “Sadly, we can confirm that the body of a 32 year-old local man was discovered inside the vehicle.

“This fatality brings to seven the number killed on Lincolnshire’s roads this year, compared to 12 at the same point in 2013.”

The vehicle was recovered from the site and the road was closed while forensics were carried out.
