A mallard duck nesting on eggs for around a month in a large planter outside the Hildreds shopping Centre has seen them hatch.
Quite unmoved by passers by, the duck made herself at home outside Lumley Road’s busy shopping arcade and became quite a celebrity among shoppers.
Despite picking perhaps one of the noisiest and busiest locations in Skegness, the super mum has so far seen six of her eggs successfully hatch and has reared six healthy ducklings.
Security staff at the Hildreds got quite attached to the brood and even kept a watchful eye over them on their CCTV cameras.
On Friday evening security staff even assisted to escort mother and her ducklings across to the Tower Gardens park for their first swim.
Steve Andrews, manager of the Hildreds Shopping Centre said: “They seemed happy and contented in their new home. It was like being on the maternity ward.”
