Memorial service planned for victims of 1953 flood
The Skegness Group of Churches have announced plans for a memorial service to mark the 60th anniversary of the infamous 1953 floods - which killed hundreds of people in England and the Netherlands.
The service will take place in St Matthew’s Church in Skegness on Thursday, January 31 at 6pm.
The event has been organised by the office of the chairman of Lincolnshire County Council and the preacher will be the Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Lowson.
The Bishop will also bless the sea defences prior to the service at 5.30pm.
A wave of prayer is also being organised on the afternoon of January 31, to include Ingoldmells and Mablethorpe.
