Meeting to discuss housing
A housing strategy, outlining Spilsby’s capacity to accommodate 284 new homes, will be discussed at a public meeting next week.
East Lindsey District Council’s housing strategy manager Anne Shorland will be explaining the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment, which outlines the town’s housing capacity, after concerns were raised about is impact on Spilsby’s amenities.
Spilsby Town Council’s Coun Julia Pears, who will be chairing the meeting, says residents she has discussed the strategy with were unanimously opposed to the level of new housing outlined in it.
She said: “The people I have spoken to don’t think the town’s amenities, such as the doctors surgery and the schools can cope with that level of future development.”
An ELDC spokesperson has explained that the sites outlined in the strategy are only potential locations for development, not, final plans for actual new houses.
The meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday in the Franklin Hall’s conference room.
