A young Skegness gymnast has landed on his feet once again with success in a recent all boys tournament.
Taking part in the ‘Lincolnshire Apparatus Gymnastics Tournament’, five-year-old Marty Jackson triumphed to land the gold medal on the parallel bars, despite competing against boys two and three year’s older than himself.
Marty, who was the youngest competitor in the tournament, competed in five different disciplines altogether, including: rings, high bar, vaulting, floor gymnastics and parallel bars; coming sixth place overall.
The year one Richmond Primary School pupil trains twice a week at Banovallum Gym Club, Horncastle, with trainer Debby Butler.
She said: He performed really well and we’re really proud of him.”
Marty’s mother, Marina Jackson, said: “I’m absolutely proud as punch with him, although I wish we had a specialised gym club closer to Skegness.”
