Central Beach Mablethorpe, Central Beach Skegness, and Central Beach Sutton on Sea have all retained the prestigious Blue Flag Award for water quality, facilities, beach safety, environmental education and management.

East Lindsey District Council’s Portfolio Holder for the Coastal Economy, Councillor Steve Kirk, said: “We have fantastic beaches in East Lindsey and retaining Blue Flag status just confirms this fact.

“Knowing that our beaches are some of the best in the world gives potential visitors the confidence that when they come to East Lindsey they will be greeted by clean, well maintained beaches with good facilities.

“Our resorts and open spaces are an important part of the area and we work hard to ensure they are clean, inviting and safe places to visit. Every morning throughout the summer season the main beaches are mechanically raked to ensure they are litter free for the coming day, with teams working hard throughout the day to maintain the standard. A clean beach is integral to our summer-time economy, drawing huge numbers of visitors to the East Coast every year, supporting our local businesses and helping to maintain and create jobs for local people.

“Beaches aren’t just for visitors and I’d encourage local people to take advantage of them too.

“Achieving the Blue Flag isn’t easy and I’d like to thank all those in the team that make this success possible.”

The Blue Flag Award is managed in England by Keep Britain Tidy and internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
