Joy as Skegness school gains Ofsted '˜good' rating

Staff and pupils at Seathorne Primary School are celebrating a successful Ofsted inspection where the school has been rated '˜good' for the first time in its 63 year history.

The Skegness school says it has made rapid improvements over the past three years, moving swiftly from being a school that ‘requires improvement’ to its current status of being a good school.

Headteacher Mandy Cherry said: “With this brilliant news you can be assured that the school is firmly on an upward trajectory and we are all committed to making the school ‘outstanding’ by the time of our next inspection.

“There is no better time to be part of this journey and we thank our parents and children for the support and faith they have put in us in providing the best all-round education.

“I would like to congratulate the staff and pupils for their perseverance and unswerving commitment to making Seathorne a ‘good’ school.

“I am extremely proud to have been part of this challenging journey and applaud all who have helped us to attain this formal recognition.”

Specific reference was made in the report to the school’s support programmes for vulnerable groups, and the additional sessions provided for identified more able students. It praised the high expectations that staff have of the children, inspiring pupils to aim high in their learning.

○ Much improved leadership and management have resulted in considerably better teaching and learning throughout the school.

○ The behaviour of pupils is good. They behave well in lessons and around the school and the school is a happy, calm and safe environment.

○ Lessons are interesting and motivate pupils well so that they want to learn. Teachers question pupils carefully, give pupils time to discuss their answers and use their responses to deepen their understanding.
