Jobs hope for Skegness after Poundland announces 2,000 seasonal posts nationwide
POUNDLAND has announced it will recruit 2,000 temporary colleagues to bolster its workforce during the busy Christmas period.
The firm, which has a store in Skegness, will begin taking on temporary seasonal staff from October 1.
Ad there’s a chance the work could lead to long-term employment - almost a third of the firm’s seasonal staff wound up with permanent posts at the end of the season last year.
The discount retailer has over 400 stores across the UK and will be recruiting for roles in most of its stores.
Jim McCarthy, CEO at Poundland, says: “Christmas is a really busy time for Poundland and we’re thrilled, especially when employment figures are so low, that we can offer even more people a job over the festive period.
“We’re looking for enthusiastic, hard-working people, who enjoy interacting with customers to give the best service possible.
“Last year approximately 30 per cent of our temporary colleagues secured permanent roles in the business following the Christmas period.”
Most stores will start taking on temporary colleagues from October 1. To apply, people are required to go into their local stores to collect an application form. Alternatively, all roles will be advertised with local Job Centre Plus sites.
