Kick-boxer Jack Etches picked up an impressive medal tally at the recent WKC World Championships.
A talented young kick-boxer is ‘over the moon’ after returning from his first ever world championships with an impressive medal haul .
Anderby teenager Jack Etches picked up a full complement of gold, silver and bronze medals during five days of frantically fought competitions at the WKC World Open Championship in Montreal, Canada.
The 14-year-old John Spendluffe Technology College student defeated competitors from across the globe in individual and team competitions which ran between October 3 and 7.
He said: “I was up against the best kick-boxers from all over the world so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy and I’m over the moon to have done so well.”
Jack was first introduced to kick-boxing by a friend four years ago and developed an instant passion for the sport.
He trains relentlessly with coaches and sparring partners at clubs in Skegness, Louth and Horncastle and travels to Corby once a fortnight for a session with the English team.
“I’m so pleased all the training has paid off,” said Jack.
The young kick-boxing protégé has also thanked his family for all their help towards achieving his recent success.
Jack’s father Steve Etches, travelled to Canada with his son and was delighted to see all his son’s hard work pay off.
He said: “All the family are so proud of him, we couldn’t ask for anything better. People don’t see all the difficult stuff that goes on, he has worked extremely hard and he never gives up, he just keeps on going.”
Jack is seeking sponsorship from local businesses, if you can help contact Steve on 01507 490033.
