Ice forces cancellation of Skegness RNLI car wash fundraiser
Icy conditions have forced the cancellation of a charity car wash day raising funds to help save lives at sea.
The Beast from the East may have finished with more of a fizzle than the heavy snow forecasted last night - but the Skegness RNLI still felt the boathouse forecourt was too icy for their annual SOS Day Car Wash.
Crewman Russ Matthews said the forecourt resembled an ‘ice-rink more than a car park’ when inspected earlier this morning,
He said: “Mixing cars, people and more cold water into the freezing conditions was thought to be a bad idea.”
The RNLI intend to reschedule the event later this year,
