‘Heroes’ walk to help heroes

Walk for Heroes

Walk for Heroes

Was it a bird, was it a plane - or was it a group of charity fundraisers dressed as superheros to undertake the mammoth task of raising several hundred pounds for children?

The answer was obvious to anyone who saw the troupe on their Walk for Heroes between The Vine pub in Chapel St Leonards and the Lumley pub in Skegness.

Batman, Robin and Catwoman, Superman, and several other superheroes were organised into action by Michael Moody who wanted to do something for children who haven’t found childhood easy.

Items were donated for a raffle to add to the funds collected and burgers were sold from Mr Moody’s burger van which was parked for the day at the Lumley.

Funds raised and collected are still being counted but will total up to more than £1,000. The money will be donated to the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre, Scarborough Avenue, in Skegness.

Mr Moody said : “I had a hard time as a child and I know how difficult it can be when fate is not on your side so I just wanted to do something to help put a smile on the faces of children who haven’t found childhood easy.”
