The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre in Great Steeping has revealed details of its opening hours for half-term.

The centre will be open throughout February 16 to 20 from 11am to 3pm each day.

“If you’re looking for something to do this February half term then why not pop over to The Northcote Heavy Horse Centre,” said the site’s Terena Bolam.

“The centre, which is a registered charity and is home to horses from large draft horses to miniature ponies, is also a visitor attraction and offer talks on the various breeds of horses as well as hands on experience with them such as grooming and learning to harness up a horse.

“Some of the horses visitors can expect to meet are Rosie, a rare breed Suffolk Punch, and Moose, a Belgian Trekpaard horse who is stunningly big.

“Weather dependent there may be dray rides in the afternoon.

“If not an alternative demonstration will be offered, and you can always get something to eat and drink in the tea room if you just wish to relax and chat.

“The centre asks for a donation for your visit and the gates open at 11am with talks beginning at 11.15am. Gates close at 3pm. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead,” Terena added.
