Passengers got their first glimpse of the new Seasiders open top buses at the launch of a revamped fleet for Skegness.
Based on classic holiday themes, people had the chance to go on board Rocky, Shelly, Candy, Pierre and Sandy before they headed out into service.
The Seasiders were unveiled by Mayor Jim Carpenter at the Tower Esplanade.
“People seem to love the Seasiders, especially children and families,” said Michelle Hargreaves, Stagecoach East Midlands managing director.
“The response has been brilliant. We’re not aware of any other seaside town with such a fantastic group of colourful and vibrant open-top buses. Tourism is vital to Skegness and we want to play our part in supporting what is a brilliant family destination.”
The revamp, which includes new livery, refurbished seats and interiors, an accompanying children’s storybook and offers, is part of the bus company’s efforts to support the local tourism industry and provide fun holiday-themed accessible public transport.
To see more from the launch in next week’s paper.
