Shops and businesses in Skegness have today (Tuesday, June 24) been affected by floods from heavy downpours.

The flash floods struck Skegness mid afternoon when heavy downpours caused a number of streets in Skegness to flood.

The Embassy swimming pool on Grand Parade Skegness was flooded for a time when flood water entered the premises as well as The Embassy Theatre and Skegness Pier, all of which have remained open.

However, Venue Manager at the theatre Pollyanne Trapmore-Shaw said: “The water just came flooding in but after a clean up operation this afternoon, we are open for business as usual.”

Sunningdale Drive was one of the worst affected streets in Skegness with the road, driveways and pathways submerged in floodwater with drains not able to cope with the volume of water falling in such a short space of time.
