A fire safety store is set to open in Skegness next week (19 August).
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue will be opening the doors to a specialist fire safety store at the Hildreds Shopping Centre on Monday.
Open for a month, the store is set to offer the local community, and visitors to the area, the facility to find out more about fire safety, the importance of smoke alarms, and advice on keeping safe in the home and whilst on holiday to the area.
Gary Millson, deputy divisional commander at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “We wanted to open a facility in town where we could actively engage with the community and visitors to the area.
“The Hildreds Centre offered us the perfect solution, ideally located in the centre of town.
“We’re aiming to be open from 10am – 2pm every day, so please come down, meet the team and find out more about keeping safe in your home and in the local community.”
Pete Roffe, The Hildreds Centre’s manager, said: “We work hard to think of innovative ways to use vacant units to help local organisations.
“Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue will be on hand to provide invaluable fire safety advice that will no doubt benefit our shoppers enormously.”
Partner organisations including Smoke Free Homes, Road Safety Partnership, Lincolnshire Police, First Contact, Connecting Communities and Young Firefighters will be at the shop during the month to answer questions and give information.
An official opening afternoon will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 2pm. Mick Green, assistant chief fire officer, will be there to answer questions as well as officers from Skegness Fire Station.
