A father and son have teamed up for an epic 250-mile walk from Wales to Skegness.

Rich and Matt Vincent are setting out on the marathon trek this week.

The Real XC Challenge begins in the north Wales town of Caernarfon on Friday with the pair aiming to arrive home in Skegness eight days later.

Rich, 44, and Matt, 18, are hoping to cover more than 25 miles a day.

If that wasn’t enough legwork they also plan to climb Mount Snowdon at the start of the hike.

Personal trainer Rich and student Matt have been preparing for the challenge hiking in the Peak District.

The pair will have to cope with carrying backpacks weighing about 10kg.

Rich said: “People think we are nuts, but we know it is going to be a hard walk.

“We will be wild camping in fields and woods and following footpaths, bridleways and trails for most of the journey.

“The first things we will want to do when we get back is have a lie down and shower.”
