Diabetes night raises £1,500
Charity fund raisers at a seventies themed night held at Bateman's Visitor Centre in aid of diabetes UK.
A SEVENTIES themed night attended by more than a hundred colourfully costumed characters has raised £1,500 to help treat diabetes.
Wainfleet woman Zoe Gilbert organised the fun fundraiser at Bateman’s Visitor Centre recently in support of Diabetes UK.
Having seen the difficulties the condition poses to its sufferers with her husband Paul, Zoe was keen to do her bit to help.
She said: “Diabetes is something you have 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year.
“It’s something that will rule your life and if you’re not careful it could also take your life.
“Diabetes UK has been fantastic and all the money will go towards research in to treatment and helping sufferers.”
Helped by friends Sarah and Wayne Bark, Zoe organised musical entertainment, a buffet and a fundraising raffle, which raised £100, with prizes donated by local businesses.
“It was absolutely brilliant,” said Zoe.
“We had lots of people in fancy dress and we are still getting donations, even now.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came and those who contributed to the event,”
