The official opening of the Chapel St Leonards Seaside Community Space will see a host of family-friendly fun planned, including street theatre, a Punch and Judy show, face-painting and balloon modelling.

Lincolnshire County Council has been working with contractor Coffey Construction Ltd to create a three-tiered amphitheatre looking out towards the sea, along with new surfacing and furniture.

The local community will be able to use the space for a variety of purposes, including outdoor performances and activities.

There is also a new Punch and Judy kiosk, complete with visitor information and fairground mirror.

Coun Colin Davie, executive member for economic development at county, said: “This event is a perfect opportunity for people to experience all this new facility has to offer. This is just one of a series of investments on the coast, and I’m confident it will help attract new visitors.”

Funding for the scheme included £72,700 from WREN. Blue Anchor Leisure Ltd donated boulders and paid for a boat feature. The opening event takes place on Monday, May 30, from 11.30am to 1pm.
