Councillor funds self defence class

SELF-DEFENCE classes helping residents feel safe and confident will begin in Chapel St Leonards this week.

The Neighbourhood Management committee to organised classes after asking residents to suggest projects they felt would be most useful for the community.

Committee chairman Roger Croft said: “There are a lot elderly female residents in the area and it was something that people thought would help them feel more safe.”

The project has been made possible thanks to £250 of funding from Coun Phil Leivers as part of East Lindsey District Council’s Councillor Community Grants.

Mr Croft said: “We are very grateful for any donation made to us as we are always looking to raise funds to help anything in the village that goes towards making it a better place.”

The first class takes place at the Village Hall on Saturday.
