Council takes enforcement action against landlord of former guest house in Skegness
Enforcement powers have been used to tidy the exterior of a former guest house in Skegness that had become unsightly.
East Lindsey District Council took direct action to improve the former Conway Guest House at 4 Prince Alfred Avenue after the Landlord failed to carry out the work requested through a formal Section 215 Untidy Land Notice in April 2012. The council issued the notice after complaints from the community.
Works carried out included full redecoration to the front of the building and replacement of the fascia.
The Council will recover the cost of the work – £5,900 - from the property owner through a Land Charge on the property. This is the second property the Council has taken direct action on in the past two weeks.
Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration, Councillor Craig Leyland, said: “Direct action is always a last resort but in this case the owner of the property has failed to carry out the improvements requested.
“The work we’ve undertaken has significantly improved the street scene for the local community and visitors to the area.”
