Coastal jobs fairs to help fill ‘150 jobs’

The district council and Jobcentre Plus have announced two new jobs fairs - which could fill up to 150 vacant posts.

Over 3,000 people in East Lindsey are currently registered as unemployed.

The two bodies hope the fairs will result in local people being introduced to employers who can offer more sustainable longer term jobs as well as helping employers to fill the vital seasonal jobs that become available each year.

The move comes after a similar fair in Mablethorpe last year attracted 600 job seekers from across the region - 30 per cent of whom successfully gained employment.

The two fairs are planned for Mablethorpe and Skegness.

As well as job opportunities, there will be recruitment and training advice available, plus apprenticeship opportunities. South Lincolnshire Voluntary Community Service will be attending to offer volunteering placements to help people develop new skills.

The European recruitment team will also be attending the Skegness Jobsfair, with jobs available on the day forpeople looking to work overseas.

The Mablethorpe fair is up first on Friday, February 22 at Mablethorpe Community Hall between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

The Skegness event will follow on Thursday, March 7 at the Embassy Theatre between 10.30am and 2.30pm.

Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration, Councillor Craig Leyland, said: “I am pleased we’ve been able to work with Job Centre Plus on these incredibly important events.

“I hope people who need support in finding a new job will make a note of the date now and go along to see what opportunities there may be for them.”
