Cigarette causes fire in sand dunes at Anderby Creek

A carelessly discarded cigarette has been blamed for an area of the sand dunes at Anderby Creek catching fire.

Firefighters from Alford were called to the scene at 6.38pm yesterday evening, where they used one hose reel to tackle the fire which had spread to about 300sqm.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has confirmed the cause was a carelessly discarded cigarette.
