Boston and Skegness MP praises Government’s long term economic plan

Mark Simmonds MP welcomes figures that show the Government’s long-term economic plan is getting young people off benefits and into work.

Mark Simmonds, MP for Boston and Skegness, has today (Friday, February, 7) welcomed new statistics that show the Government’s long-term economic plan has helped get 7,700 young people off benefits in the East Midlands over the past year.

According to Mr Simmonds, this means more young people in East Midlands are receiving a regular pay packet, learning a profession or getting the training they need to give themselves a more secure future, proof that the Government’s long-term economic plan is helping young people take that important first step into adult life.

Mark Simmonds said “It is great news that there are almost 8,000 fewer young people relying on Jobseeker’s Allowance in East Midlands than last year. I am delighted that this Government is providing an economic recovery that can give young people hope of a prosperous future. Of course there is still more to do, but these figures show the Conservative’s long-term plan to fix the economy is working, getting people off benefits and into work – delivering a more secure future for young people in Boston & Skegness who want to work hard and get on in life.”
