A Skegness dog exhibitor, a previous judge at Crufts and groomer had success recently at the world-famous event.
Ann Youens of Fulford Way, Skegness, won her class then won best veteran dog in the breed with her 10-year-old Flatcoated Retriever, ‘Pace’, kennel name Sh Ch Perrymel Spring Storm at Riverglide.
“The victory was no mean feat, as he was competing mostly against much younger dogs. The category allows dogs from seven to 11-year-old’s,” said Ann, but out of a class of 20, Pace won through. Ann puts his condition and fitness down to regular exercise on the beach.
“I have been lucky, because I have always come away with a first or second place rosette from one of my Flatcoats in the last 25 years of showing at Crufts,” added Ann.
Two more of Ann’s Flatcoats also gained places in their classes, with her hopes for her young bitch getting one of the highest honours at the show in the future.
