A coach company has gone one step forward to ensure not only its passengers’ comfort but also their safety and, in doing so, scooped a prestigious award.

Hunts Coach Travel, founded in 1930, from Alford has been awarded the highest six star award in the new BUSK (Belt Up School Kids) initiative.

As well as BUSK, Hunts also operate a Green Road system which tracks vehicles, records speeds and helps towards safer travel and another award has been secured in this area.

One of the company’s senior drivers, Paul Radford has been awarded the highest accolade from Green Road, giving him the ‘Elite Driver Status’.

Paul, who has worked for Hunts for the past five years is now one of only five per cent of professional drivers in the whole of the UK to be awarded the honour.

Owner Mr Michael Hunt said: “We are very proud of Paul and his achievement. This award helps underline how important we take safety at Hunts.”

The company employs over 35 staff trained to achieve and demonstrate standards of maintenance, safety and training of its vehicles and drivers.

BUSK specialises in the safe transportation of children and young people and is one of few organisations of its kind in the UK. “The iniattive actively works to promote safer practices for the most vulnerable road passengers,” said a spokesperson for Hunts.
