A Skegness hairdresser proved she could cut it in front of an audience of thousands as a returning contestant on The X Factor on Saturday.

Jale Antor, who runs the Hair, Health and Beauty Centre, in Wainfleet, performed a version of judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s Crazy Stupid Love at Wembley Stadium to a crowd in its thousands in the latest round of the hit talent search.

The 36-year-old told The Standard she is a ‘serious’, ‘classically trained’ singer, but chose to make her rendition more comic than faithful.

She said: “It was just for fun. It was just to bring a bit of fun back into the show, get everyone out of their seats and get the judges smiling.”

Jale had already won over judges with a version of Cheryl’s Fight For This Love in an earlier round and on Saturday sported a temporary tattoo on her lower back as a nod to the singer’s famous body art.

She would go on to receive a rapturous response from the audience for her performance and standing ovations from judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.

Simon asked ‘was that the original record?’ while Louis described the resemblance as ‘uncanny’.

Cherly said: “I will have to find out what remix that was, so I can buy a copy for myself.”

Jale missed out on a place in the next round, with no votes from Simon and Louis, but a yes from Cheryl.

However, she hinted audiences may not have seen the last of her just yet.

She said: “I can’t really say too much. Watch this space.”
