Budding bakers are needed to re-create their favourite landmark as part of a Cake Fest being held at this year’s SO Festival.

One hundred teams or individuals will bake a giant 100 square metre edible map of East Lincolnshire make of cake, which will go on display in Skegness on July 2.

The cake sculptures will be produced all over the region and will be placed together to create a true visual feast.

Organisers have been working with County Care, a local community group, to come up with ideas about which landmarks they would like to see baked, including the giant wheel at Bottons Pleasure Beach, the Jolly Fisherman waterfall in Compass Gardens and the Diamond Jubilee Clock Tower.

Lorna Fulton, artistic director, said: “We’re so excited to bring Simon Preston and his amazing creations made of cake to the festival. Not only does this project provide an opportunity for all of the visitors to SO Festival to come together to eat cake landmarks of Skegness from an edible map, anyone can get involved in the creation of the cakes.” To get involved, contact Simon at [email protected].
